Studio Sale Part 4

Remember if you are interested in purchasing a print, painting or pot email me at kate@katebabb.com!
Thanks!
Studio Sale Part 3
These are the sense paintings, originally they were painted to have side panels with the parts of the body or brain that are used to hear, smell, see, taste and touch. However for the sake of this sale I am leaving the panels off and seeing how people like the center panels.
If you would like to see them with the side panels go to the paintings gallery at katebabb.com.
Remember the sale is three posts long and I just found some more prints to add so by the time it is done there will be 4 posts total.
Enjoy!

Studio Sale Part 2
Friends, Romans, Countrymen, people who have always expressed a desire to buy some art. Today is your lucky day. You see the hubs and I are moving to Dallas, after graduation, in a mere 11 days and I need to clear out my studio. So I have assembled all of the pots, prints and paintings for your perusal. These would all make great Christmas gifts for friends and family.
If you are interested in pots, painting or prints please email me at kate@katebabb.com!

Green, Yellow and Purple Hairballs
These do not have enough to fill their own post in my opinion. Sorry these past few posts have been rather boring.
Green:

Purple:
The purple one has been interesting because the way I edited the photo (included below) eliminated a lot of the chatter and splatters. So it has a much cleaner feel that I like. I also used more Damar varnish (medium that you mix into the oils to 1.) help it dry faster 2.) give it a shiny quality.) I did enjoy using the Damar Varnish while laying out the painting and I will repeat this process in the rest of my pieces.
Yellow:
In a recent progress critique one of my classmates said she was very concerned when she heard me mention that I was planning to start a yellow painting because she feared it would end up looking like a pee painting. However, she was pleased to inform me that I had succeeded in making a non-pee painting.
Again I used the Damar Varnish to help lay out the painting. The source photo is very interesting (below) and I am excited to continue to work on the piece. However, it is proving to be a challenge because yellow is such a transparent paint color that anything you add to it to give the color some shadow ends up looking green or too dark. How fortunate for me that the yellow in the source photo actually has a greenish tint!

Thanks for reading and viewing.
